Asian   -   Beef And Radish Soup (Faktu) (Tibet)   adapted from The Varied Kitchens of India by Copeland Marks

  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 Pound Sirloin Tip Roast, Trimmed -- cubed
  • 1 Teaspoon Ginger -- finely chopped
  • 3 Cups Water
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 2 Cups Pasta Shells -- small
  • 2 Cups Daikon -- sliced
  • 1 Teaspoon Cornstarch -- dissolved in
  • 1 Tablespoon Water
Directions Heat oil in saucepan, and fry beef and ginger for 3 minutes. Add water, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Add pasta, and daikon. Simmer for 15 minutes. Add cornstarch mixture and simmer for 3 minutes. Serve.
