Brazilian - My Friend's Cake

Ingredients
|
- 1 Cup Butter
- 2 Cups Sugar
- 1 Lemon Lemon Juice
- 2 Cups Flour
- 1 Cup Corn Starch
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg
- 2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1/2 Cup Port Wine
- 1 Cup Quava Jelly -- Or Any Other Jelly
- Powdered Sugar -- For Sprinkling
- 7 Medium Egg Whites -- Stiffly Beaten

Directions
|
Cream together, butter, sugar, and lemon juice. Mix together flour, corn starch, salt, nutmeg and baking soda. Add this to the sugar and milk, stir well. Add port wine and beaten egg whites. Pour into greased bunt pan and bake for 45 minutes in a 375 degree oven. Cool slightly, spread on jelly and sprinkle with sugar.
