British   -   Saffron Loaf From Cornwall (Wales)   adapted from Ethnic Breads

Ingredients
  • 2 Saffron Threads
  • 1 Cup Boiling Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Boiling Water
  • 1 3/4 Teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 3 Cups Bread Flour
  • 3/4 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Caraway Seed
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Medium Egg
  • 1 Medium Egg White
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Candied Lemon Peel
Directions Add saffron to boiling water and let stand until it returns to room temperature. Place all ingredients in bread machine according to machine directions. Process on bread cycle.
