Burmese   -   Seithar Masala Hincho (Lamb Soup With Green Peas)   adapted from The Best of Burmese Cooking by Aung Aung Taik

  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 2 Pounds Lamb -- Cubed
  • 1 Medium Onion -- Chopped
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric
  • 2 Teaspoons Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Cumin
  • 2 Medium Bay Leaves
  • 2 Cups Chicken Stock
  • 6 Cups Water
  • 3 Cups Peas
Directions Saute lamb, onion and turmeric in oil for 5 minutes. Add salt, pepper, cumin, bay leaves, stock and water. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Add peas and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve.
