Ingredients
  • 2 Pounds Top Round Steak -- cubed
  • 1 Tablespoon Ginger -- thinly sliced
  • 3 Large Dried Chiles -- soaked
  • 3 Cloves Garlic -- finely chopped
  • 1 Large Shallot -- finely chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 5 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Fish Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • Salt And Pepper -- to fill
  • 1 Cup Chick Broth
  • 1 Cup Coconut Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Tamarind Pulp
  • Cilantro -- for garnish
Directions Combine beef & ginger and allow to marinate at least 1 hour.
Place chiles, garlic, shallot & water in blender, blend until smooth. Heat oil in large pot. Add paste, cook 2 minutes. Add beef (without ginger) sugar, fish sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper & broth. Boil, reduce heat, simmer 40 minutes. Add coconut & tamrarind, simmer 20 mintues. Note: The sauce should be relatively thick if it is not continue to cook. Garnish with cilantro
