Ingredients

- 2 Pounds Top Round Steak -- cubed
- 1 Tablespoon Ginger -- thinly sliced
- 3 Large Dried Chiles -- soaked
- 3 Cloves Garlic -- finely chopped
- 1 Large Shallot -- finely chopped
- 1/2 Cup Water
- 5 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 3 Tablespoons Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Fish Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
- Salt And Pepper -- to fill
- 1 Cup Chick Broth
- 1 Cup Coconut Milk
- 1/4 Cup Tamarind Pulp
- Cilantro -- for garnish

Directions

Combine beef & ginger and allow to marinate at least 1 hour. Place chiles, garlic, shallot & water in blender, blend until smooth. Heat oil in large pot. Add paste, cook 2 minutes. Add beef (without ginger) sugar, fish sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper & broth. Boil, reduce heat, simmer 40 minutes. Add coconut & tamrarind, simmer 20 mintues. Note: The sauce should be relatively thick if it is not continue to cook. Garnish with cilantro
