Chinese   -   Sweet And Sour Tempeh   adapted from 366 Ways to Cook Tofu

Ingredients
  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons White Wine Vinegar
  • 3 Tablespoons Ketchup
  • 3 Tablespoons Vegetable Broth
  • 1 Tablespoon Tamari Soy Sauce
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Cornstarch
  • 1 Tablespoon Corn Oil
  • 1 Pound Poached Tempeh -- cubed
  • 2 Medium Scallion -- finely chopped
  • 2 Cloves Garlic -- finely chopped
  • 2 Teaspoons Fresh Ginger Root -- finely chopped
  • 1 Medium Carrot -- sliced
  • 1 Medium Bell Pepper -- chopped
  • 1 Large Onion -- sliced
Directions combine everything above and including cornstarch, mix well. heat oil in skillet, brown tempeh, scallions, garlic, ginger, carrot, bell pepper and onion. Saute until tempeh is golden brown. Reduce heat and add sweet and sour mixture. saute until ingredients are well combined and sauce is thickened about 1 minute.
