Central American   -   Carne Achorizada (Honduras)   adapted from False Tongues and Sunday Bread by Copeland Marks

  • 1 Pound Ground Beef
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Cider Vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Achiote
  • 3 Cloves Garlic -- finely chopped
  • 1 Small Onion -- finely chopped
  • 1 Small Red Bell Pepper -- finely chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Cilantro -- finely chopped
Directions Mix beef, salt, pepper and vinegar together. Heat oil in skillet and fry beef until brown. Add achiote, garlic, onion, bell pepper and cilantro. Continue to cook for 5 minutes or until all liquid has evaporated. Serve with tortillas.
