Cuban - Cuban Black Bean Soup

Ingredients
|
- 1 Medium Onion -- chopped
- 3 Cloves Garlic -- minced
- 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 Pound Dried Black Beans
- 3 Cups Beef Broth
- 3 Cups Water
- 1 Cup Smoked Ham -- chopped
- 1 Medium Green Pepper -- chopped
- 1 Large Tomato -- chopped
- 1/4 Cup Dark Rum
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons Ground Cumin
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons Oregano
- 1 Habenero Pepper -- minced

Directions
|
Saute onion and garlic, add remaining ingredients, heat to boiling, boil 2 minutes. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 2 hours. Beans do not need to be pre-soaked.
