Carribean and Tropical   -   Hojaldre (Haiti)   adapted from The Complete Caribbean Cookbook

  • 3/4 Cup Butter
  • 2/3 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 4 Medium Eggs
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1 Teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/3 Cup Sweet Red Wine
  • 1/3 Cup Milk
  • Confectioner's Sugar
Directions Cream together butter and sugar; beat in eggs, add flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, beat well, add wine slowly, stir in milk, pour into greased baking pan, bake for 45 minutes at 425 degrees, remove, cool and sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
