Danish - Spice Cookies

Ingredients
|
- 1 Cup Soft Butter
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Medium Egg
- 3/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/2 Cup Boiling Water
- 6 Cups Flour -- sifted
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 Teaspoon Cardamom -- ground
- 1 Teaspoon Cloves -- ground
- 1 Cup Molasses

Directions

Cream butter and sugar. Beat the egg and add to butter. Stir baking soda into the water. Add molasses then beat into the creamed mixture. Sift 5 cups of flour together with the spices. Add as much of the remaining flour to make a good stiff dough. Roll out about 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes. Place in refrigerator and let chill for 1 hour. Bake for 15 minutes in 375 degree oven.
