European   -   Visnjak (Cherry Cake) Yugoslavia   adapted from The Balkan Cookbook by Inge Kramarz

  • 9 Tablespoons Butter
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 2/3 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Pound Cherries -- Pitted
  • 1 Cup Sugar
Directions Beat butter until frothy. Add eggs and sugar, then flour. Beat until fluffy. Add vanilla, beat well. Pour into a baking pan and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Allow to cool. Puree cherries in blender with sugar. Spread cherry puree over cake and serve.
