Finnish   -   Farmers Meat Stew (Talonpokaiskeitto)   adapted from The Finnish Cookbook by Beatrice A Ojakangas

  • 2 Pounds Round Steak -- Cubed
  • 4 Medium Potato -- Cubed
  • 4 Medium Carrot -- Cubed
  • 2 Large Onion -- Chopped
  • 2 Teaspoons Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Cups Beef Broth
Directions Layer in the steak, top with a layer of potatoes, then carrots and onions. Sprinkle each layer with salt and pepper. Dot with butter. Cook on low for 1 hour, then add broth and cook for another 2 hours. Serve.
