French   -   Onion Gratin   adapted from The Vegetarian Bistro

  • 8 Large Onions -- peeled
  • 3 Medium Bay Leaf
  • Salt And Pepper -- to taste
  • 5 Medium Shallots -- gin
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 5 Tablespoons Half And Half
Directions Combine onions, bay leaves, slat and pepper with enoguh water to coer. Bring to boil, reduce heat, simmer 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 375* Drain onions & let cool, discarding bay leaves. Thinlly slice oinoins. Layer 1/3 of onions into buttered baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/3 of shallots & nutmeg. Repeat twice. Add cream and bak3 30 mintues.
