German - Bohnensuppe (Bean Soup)

Ingredients

- 2 Cups Baby Lima Beans -- Cooked
- 2 Pounds Ham -- Cubed
- 2 Quarts Chicken Stock
- 1 Teaspoon Pepper
- 1 Medium Bay Leaf
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Medium Celeriac -- Chopped
- 4 Medium Carrot -- Chopped
- 3 Medium Onion -- Chopped
- 2 Stalks Celery -- Chopped
- 4 Medium Potatoes -- Chopped
- 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Salt
- 1 Cube Chicken Bouillon
- 6 Slices Bacon -- Chopped
- 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 2 Tablespoons Flour

Directions
|
Bring ham, stock, pepper, bay leaf, salt and celeriac to a boil. Simmer for 20 minutes. Add carrots, onions and celery. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Add potatoes, beans, garlic salt and bouillon cube to the soup. Simmer for 20 minutes. Saute bacon until crisp. Remove bacon and add to the soup. Saute flour in oil until it becomes a light brown color. Add it to the soup. Simmer for 10 minutes and serve.
