German - Gewurzkuchen (Spice Cake)

Ingredients

- 1 1/3 Cups Honey
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Butter
- 4 Cups Flour
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
- 2 Teaspoons Ground Cloves
- 1 Teaspoon Ginger
- 2 Medium Eggs
- 1/4 Cup Milk
- 1/2 Cup Chopped Walnuts -- Optional
- Powdered Sugar

Directions
|
Combine honey, sugar and butter. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and let cool. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Add honey mixture, eggs, milk, and walnuts. Mix into a dough. Turn dough out onto a floured board, knead until smooth about 15 minutes. Refrigerate for 2 hours or up to 2 weeks. Roll out dough into a 13X9 inch rectangle. Place into a baking pan and bake for 45 minutes at 325 degrees. Cool for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
