German - Honigplatzchen (Honey Cookies)

Ingredients

- 1 Cup Honey
- 3/4 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
- 1 Cup Nuts -- Chopped
- 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
- 3 Cups Flour
- 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1/2 Teaspoon Allspice
- 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Cloves
- 1 Medium Egg -- Beaten
- Almond Halves -- Optional
- Chocolate Chips -- Optional

Directions
|
Bring honey to a boil, add sugar, nuts and lemon juice. Stir well and remove from heat. Cool slightly. In another bowl, combine, flour, baking soda, nutmeg, allspice and cloves. Add egg, beat well. Add honey mixture and stir well. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Roll out dough to a 1/4 inch thickness and cut out 2 inch rounds. Place on baking sheet and press in almond halves and chocolate chips. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
