German   -   Mohnkuchen (Poppy Seed Cake)   adapted from German Cooking

  • 2 1/2 Cups Poppy Seeds
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 4 Medium Eggs
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Almond Extract
Directions Beat butter with sugar until creamy. Add flour and baking powder. Stir well. Add eggs and almond extract. Beat well. Add poppy seeds and pour into a 10 inch round pan. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Cool for 10 minutes and serve.
