German   -   Sailor's Stew   adapted from German Cooking

Ingredients
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 Pound Steak -- cubed
  • 1 Pound Pork -- cubed
  • 2 Medium Onion -- chopped
  • 2 Medium Carrot -- chopped
  • 2 Stalks Celery -- chopped
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 Cup Dry Red Wine
  • 1 Teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 2 Teaspoons Horseradish
Directions saute meats and vegatables in olive oil until meat is brown. add salt, pepper and wine. boil, cover, reduce heat. simmer for 45 minutes. add cornstarch and horseradish. cook until liquid thickens.
Serves 6
