Greek   -   Spicy Beef Pitas   adapted from Betty Crockers New International Cookbook

Ingredients
  • 1/2 Cup Plain Yogurt
  • 1 Teaspoon Dried Mint
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/4 Small Cucumber -- seeded and chopped
  • 1 Pound Ground Beef -- or lamb
  • 1 Small Onion -- chopped
  • 2 Cloves Garlic -- finely chopped
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cumin
  • 4 Whole Wheat Pitas -- in half
  • Lettuce -- shredded
  • Tomatoes -- chopped
Directions prepare yogurt dressing. add all ingredient down to ground beef in bowl and cover, refrigerate for 20 minutes. cook beef, onions and garlic, until beef is done. Drain. stir in seasonings. Serve in sandwiches with lettuce, tomatoes, and yogurt dressing.
