India   -   Saag   adapted from Asian Meals

  • 1 Pound Fresh Spinach -- chopped
  • 1 Medium Turnip -- chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 Small Onion -- chopped
  • 2 Cloves Garlic -- chopped
  • 2 Teaspoons Fresh Ginger Root -- grated
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Garam Masala
  • Salt And Pepper -- to taste
Directions Steam spinach and turnips until tender. Puree in blender. Saute onions garlic and ginger in olive oil until brown. Add spices, cook another minute until fragrant, then add puree. Cook until mixture is almost dry.
Serves 4
