Jamaican   -   Bullas (Jamacian)   adapted from The Complete Caribbean Cookbook

  • 1 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 3 Cups Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Ginger
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Allspice
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter -- Melted
Directions Combine sugar and water in saucepan; bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and spices into large bowl, add butter and sugar syrup, mix to form a firm dough. Pat to a thickness of 1/3 inch. Cut out 5 inch cookies. Place on baking sheet, bake fo 20 minutes at 400 degrees.
