Mexican   -   Tlaloc Chile Stew (Mayan)   adapted from The Whole Chile Cookbook

  • 4 Dried Pasilla Chiles -- seeded
  • 5 Medium Jalapeno -- chopped
  • 3 Medium Tomatoes -- peeled
  • 1 Medium Onion -- chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Cilantro -- chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Mint Leaves -- chopped
  • 2 Pounds Turkey
  • 1 Quart Water
Directions rehydrate the dried chiles. combine chiles tomatoes, onion and rehydration water in blender to make puree. stir in cilantro and mint. place turkey in water in a pan. add sauce. bring to boil. reduce heat and simmer until turkey is tender about 1 1/2 hours. add more water as necessary.
