Portugese - Ginger Cake

Ingredients

- 4 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 Teaspoon Ginger
- 1/2 Teaspoon Clove
- 1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1 Stick Butter
- 2/3 Cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 2/3 Cups Sugar
- 1/3 Cup Dark Molasses
- 5 Large Eggs -- Separated
- 1/3 Cup Madeira
- 1 Cup Milk

Directions
|
preheat oven to 325 degrees; combine flour; soda, powder and spices; cream together butter, sugar and oil; add molasses and stir well; beat in egg yolks; stir in madeira and milk; beat in dry ingredients; beat egg whites to soft peaks and fold in gently; pour batter into well greased 10 inch tube pan; bake for 1 hour 15 minutes; cool and serve.
