Scottish - Treacle Scones

Ingredients
|
- 2 Ounces Butter
- 1 Tablespoon Treacle Or Molasses
- 8 Ounces Self-Rising Flour
- 1 Pinch Salt
- 1/2 Teaspoon Ginger
- 1/2 Teaspoon Cardamom -- Ground
- 2 Ounces Milk

Directions
|
Melt butter and treacle together over low heat. Cool for 5 minutes. Sift in flour, salt, ginger and cardamom. Stir in enough milk to make a smooth dough. Pat out dough to a 1 inch thickness. Cut out 8 scones and place on baking sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Serve with butter or jelly.
