US Regional   -   Ivy League Chocolate Chunk Cookies   adapted from Sarah Leah Chase's Cold-Weather Cooking

  • 2 Sticks Unsalted Butter
  • 1 1/4 Cups Sugar
  • 3/4 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons Vanilla
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 2 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 Cup Rolled Oats
  • 10 Ounces Chocolate Chunks
  • 1 Cup Walnuts -- Optional
Directions Cream together butter and both sugars. Beat in eggs. Add lemon juice and vanilla. Mix well. Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Stir into the creamed mixture. Add oats, chocolate and walnuts. Drop by tablespoons onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
