US Regional   -   Sweet Onion Pie   adapted from Classic Main Courses

  • 1 Each Pie Crust (9 Inch) -- prebaked
  • 3 Medium Sweet Onions -- thinly sliced
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Cup Swiss Cheese -- grated
  • 3 Medium Eggs -- beaten
  • 2/3 Cup Sour Cream
  • 5 Tablespoons Milk
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
Directions saute onions in butter over low heat until onions are a very golden brown about 25 minutes. scatter onions in pie shell. sprinkle the cheese over the onions. combine remaining ingredients and pour over the onions. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. allow to cool for 10 minutes and serve.
